🜏 Apprentice Codex: Initiation

Welcome, Apprentice.

You stand at the threshold of your initiation. Over the next twelve weeks, you will transition from a novice practitioner to a disciplined wielder of computational and theoretical arts. This codex defines your path, your rituals, and the expectations that govern your ascent.

Failure to follow the codex will result in chaos. Precision, rigor, and consistency are your allies.

πŸœ‚ I. The Three Trials (Internship Milestones)

Your progression will be marked by three formal rites of presentation.

🜁 Week 2 β€” The Awakening

Objective: Demonstrate understanding of the theoretical foundations of your quest.

  • 20-minute presentation

  • Must clearly explain:

    • Core concepts underpinning the project
    • Key mathematical structures and assumptions

πŸœƒ Week 7 β€” The First Convergence

Objective: Reveal your first experimental or computational results.

  • 20-minute presentation

  • Must include:

    • Preliminary results

    • Methods used

    • A dedicated slide titled β€œObstacles & Unknowns”, containing:

      • Concepts not yet mastered
      • Blocking issues (technical or theoretical)

This is not a weaknessβ€”it is a required signal of awareness.

πŸœ„ Week 12 β€” The Final Transmutation

Objective: Deliver a complete and coherent narrative of your work.

  • 20-minute presentation

  • Must include:

    • Problem statement
    • Methodology
    • Results
    • Interpretation and limitations

At this stage, you are expected to demonstrate autonomy and synthesis.

🜏 II. The Laboratory Infrastructure (Setup)

Your work must be structured and reproducible. Disorder is forbidden.

  • All artifacts must reside in a GitHub repository within the lab organization:

    • Source code
    • Presentation slides
    • Reports
  • The repository must contain:

    • A branch named: review

    • A report written in:

      • LaTeX or
      • Markdown
  • The repository structure should remain clean, modular, and documented.

🜍 III. Weekly Rituals (Workflow Expectations)

Your training is iterative. Each week follows a strict cycle.

🜁 1. The Council Meeting

  • One meeting per week with your supervisor(s)

  • You must come prepared with:

    • Progress
    • Questions
    • Blockers

πŸœƒ 2. The Code Offering

  • All code must be submitted via Pull Request (PR) to the review branch

  • Requirements:

    • Assign supervisor(s) as reviewers
    • Ensure code is functional and minimally documented
    • PR descriptions must be explicit and structured

πŸœ„ 3. The Living Manuscript

  • Your report is a living document

  • Each week:

    • Update it with new findings
    • Submit updates via PR to the review branch

πŸœ‚ 4. The Dual Slides Rite

Each week, you must produce two slides, submitted with your PR and presented during the meeting:

Slide 1 β€” Knowledge Acquired

  • What you learned this week
  • Concepts understood
  • Progress made

Slide 2 β€” Shadows Remaining

  • What you do not understand
  • Questions
  • Ambiguities
  • Blocking points

Clarity about ignorance is a requirement, not a flaw.

🜎 IV. The Forbidden Library

The following domains contain essential knowledge for your training:

πŸœ” V. The Path of Ascent

Beyond the rites and the rituals lies a continuous reckoning β€” a Path that measures every offering, every defeat, every quiet act of discipline.

Every assignment is a creature. Every defeated creature is points. Points raise you through seven titles, from Initiate to Hierophant. Hidden Sigils are bestowed for deeds beyond the pattern. Three Forbidden Classes await those who climb high enough.

Your log of creatures defeated lives in your own project repo, in progress.md. Your supervisor reviews it weekly with your code.

Consult the Path:

πŸœ” Sealed Forbidden Classes

Three classes lie beyond the Library, sealed until the Path is climbed:

  • πŸœ” The Alchemy of Neural Networks β€” sealed until Journeyman of the Athanor
  • πŸœ” The Ontology of the Quantum State β€” sealed until Adept of the Aludel
  • πŸœ” Alien Research β€” sealed until Magister of the Vessel

When the seal breaks, The Dark Algebraist will share the way.

🜏 Final Words

This codex is not decorativeβ€”it is operational.

If you follow it rigorously:

  • Your progress will be measurable
  • Your understanding will deepen
  • Your work will be reproducible and valuable

If you deviate:

  • Issues will compound rapidly

Welcome to the lab.

Your training begins now.
